She&nbsp;was the aunthentic pioneer when she founded&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.classicalwines.com\/\">Classical Wines from Spain<\/a>, 30 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>She moved from Spain to Seattle to build a common dream with her partner Steve, who had been graduated at UW and loved the Pacific Northwest. Three decades later, Almudena has found in this city her second home altought \u201cI miss the bright light of Spain,\u201d she smiles.<\/p>\n<p>At first, not everybody believed in their adventure. \u201cPeople asked if I think I could make money&nbsp;selling Spanish wines in the US. That\u00b4s why we decided to include the map of Spain in our business cards\u201d Almudena explains. \u201cAll of this changed afte the 1992 Olympic&nbsp;Games and other Spanish wines importers began to work in the US\u201d. She discovered soon that all this buzz was not a threat but a big push to her business. \u201cSpaniard wines moved from a hidden corner in the stores&nbsp;to a more relevant&nbsp;space\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Today Classical Wines from Spain works all around the country but the biggest markets are New York, Chicago and Florida, where the latin american population is really faithful to great value classic wines.<\/p>\n<p>California, Washington and Oregon are good markets too altough they\u00b4re the first wine producers in the country. \u201cConsumers breath the wine culture and they become more receptive to new varieties too,\u201d explains Almudena.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-530\" src=\"http:\/\/theyummybull.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/almudena-de-laguno-foto.jpg?w=604\" alt=\"almudena de laguno foto\" width=\"604\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theyummybull.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/almudena-de-laguno-foto.jpg 1278w, https:\/\/theyummybull.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/almudena-de-laguno-foto-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theyummybull.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/almudena-de-laguno-foto-1024x619.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/theyummybull.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/almudena-de-laguno-foto-768x465.jpg 768w, https:\/\/theyummybull.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/almudena-de-laguno-foto-1080x653.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Many things have changed since Almudena founded Classical Wines from Spain 30 years ago. Spain produces today more wine than ever, but \u201cIt\u00b4s more difficult to find now an unique and authentic wine, the market is really even, following the directions of some gurus like Robert Parker,\u201d explains. \u201cFinding these special wines is our work and It\u00b4s the work that we enjoy the most\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of Classical Wines from Spain,&nbsp;&nbsp;Almudena have always promoted the original grape varieties of each area, like moristel in Somontano, a region situated in the NE of Spain.
