The competition has again returned to <em><strong>Spain<\/strong><\/em> after passing through Stockholm and New York. This edition had a record participation of entries, with 500 samples from seven countries. The jury was composed of leading international experts from twelve nations<\/p>\n<p>The wine <em><strong>Cruz de Alba<\/strong><\/em> (2011) \u2013geographical location: Ribera de Duero\u2013 has been the winner of the contest, while four other wines have won the award Great Gold Tempranillo: <em><strong>Finca Sobre\u00f1o Selecci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/em> (2008), from Toro; <em><strong>Sideral<\/strong><\/em> (2010), from Rioja; <em><strong>Dinast\u00eda Vivanco Reserva<\/strong><\/em> (2007), from Rioja; and, in <em><strong>Garnacha<\/strong><\/em> variety, <em><strong>Atteca Armas<\/strong><\/em> (2011), from Calatayud.<\/p>\n<p>It also granted 88 prizes Gold Tempranillo and 56 Silver Tempranillo.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Bodegas y Vi\u00f1edos Lleiroso<\/strong><\/em>, located in the town of Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid), also included within the Certification of Origin \u201cRibera del Duero\u201d, won four awards in this year&#8217;s competition:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Gold Tempranillo: <em><strong>Luzmillar Crianza<\/strong><\/em> (2011) .<br \/>\n\u2022 Gold Tempranillo: <em><strong>Lleiroso<\/strong><\/em> (2009) .<br \/>\n\u2022 Silver Tempranillo:<em><strong> Luzmillar Roble<\/strong><\/em> (2012).<br \/>\n\u2022 Silver Tempranillo: <em><strong>Lleiroso<\/strong><\/em> (2007) .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theyummybull.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/luzmillar_crianza_esp11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" id=\"i-303\" alt=\"Image\" src=\"http:\/\/theyummybull.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/luzmillar_crianza_esp11.jpg?w=92\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <em><strong>Tempranillo<\/strong><\/em> black grape variety is the most important grapevine in Spain. From it, comes many of the most notable spanish red wines. It has other names, such as Tinta del Pa\u00eds, in Ribera del Duero; Tinta de Toro, in Zamora; or Cencibel, in Castilla-La Mancha.&nbsp; The &nbsp;Tempranillo grape variety needs lots of sunshine to ensure optimum quality.
